How should we invest our OCICE prize money?

OCICE lunch 1On May 25, 2016 our own Reverend Carolyne received an award for a sermon in honor of Earth Day from the Orange County Interfaith Coalition for the Environment. The award included a $500 prize!

One of our spiritual principles is the law of attraction. Like attracts like. Jesus said, “ Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” (Matt 7:7) When Rev. Carolyne made the announcement in a Sunday service about the $500 award, she mentioned that someone might want to match that amount. And, within 24 hours – someone did! So the offer still stands to anyone else to also match the $500 award – or maybe even the new total of $1,000.

So now, the big question…How to invest $1,000 in furthering our intention to have ecologically sound and sustainable gardens and grounds? We need your help to answer that question.

What is your idea that costs $1,000 to invest in our property? Here are the parameters for your idea to be considered. It needs to:

  1. Do something to make our property or grounds more efficient or sustainable.
  2. Be feasible.
  3. Fall within the $1,000 budget for the entire project (or you’ll be willing to make up the financial difference).

Please submit your idea to unity@unitytustin.org by Monday, August 8. We’ll send out the top ideas to our general email list to vote. Make sure you are on our email list so you can vote too. We look forward seeing your brilliant ideas and seeing them come to fruition this summer.
